W. Equatoria governor urges more international pressure on Khartoum over Abyei
June 9,2011 (TOMBURA) – The governor of Western Equatoria state Bangasi Joseph Bakosoro has called on the International Community to put more pressure on the Khartoum government over the ongoing crisis in Abyei and southern Kordofan state.
The governor said the people of Southern Sudan stand in solidarity with the people of Abyei, Southern Kordafon and Blue Nile, and called for “peace throughout Sudan in light of the upcoming July 9th independence of South Sudan”.
The governor urged the United States government and the international community to put pressure on Khartoum to respect the terms of the comprehensive peace agreement (CPA), as the way forward.
Abyei Ngok Community in the US in collaboration with South Kordofan/Nuba Mountains Communities organized a peaceful demonstration at the Freedom Plaza in Washington D.C on Saturday June 4th,2011.
The rally condemned what the organizers termed as “inhuman acts of aggression by Sudan’s National Congress Party(NCP) and its military wing the Sudan Armed Forces, by invading, looting and burning the town of Abyei, after killing many innocent civilians, a criminal act that resulted in the displacement of thousands of women and children from their homes and area all together.”
In related development Bakosoro also met USAID Deputy Assistant Administrator bureau for Africa Raja Jandhyala in Washington, DC- on Friday June 3, 2011 to brief her on USAID sponsored projects in the South—especially in Western Equatoria in Road constructions-
The governor said there is a need to open more feeder roads in the state to stimulate commerce and economic growth and as one way of minimizing insecurity.
During the meeting they discussed a broad range of issues on the prospects for peace and development as South Sudan will soon become Africa’s and the world’s newest nation.
Raja assured the Governor of continued US diplomatic effort to ensure that “the Abyei conflict is resolved before July 9th2011”.
They also discussed power distribution based on centralization and decentralization system of power.
Speaking on Sudan in Focus program from the Voice of America on Friday Bakosoro disclosed that Western Equatoria has never been relying on relief ever since but the LRA has destabilized the economic activities of the state.
“We used to produce a lot of food during the war, but since 2005, the LRA rebels have displaced over 25 thousand local communities from their farm land into camps in the town centers,” decried the governor.
The governor is US on special invitation by the Western Equatoria communities Associations and the Western Equatoria council of elders to discuss the development and investment of the state after the independence of south Sudan in July 2011.
Other accompanying officials include the state minister of Physical infrastructure and public utilities Batrus Magaya and the State Minister of Social Development Norma Fadul.

I really admire you for the heart you have for the people of southern Sudan, you remind me of late Samuel Abujohn who enjoyed the same love. And when he was consulted about someone to hold a position from your region he nominated one who is the best among the ministers in GoSS. Your love for people is clear as you meet with them wherever you go, even in your special visit to your community in the US you met with those who are not under you to speak to their concerns. This is a kind of leadership we need in the upcoming new country, the Republic of South Sudan. You have proved to be a nationalist more than being like shortsighted leaders who don’t see far from their feet. Keep it up as genuine leader and people of the south will admire you more. And thanks.
Those who blame our leaders from outside southern Sudan are blind for they don’t know anything about what is really going on in the south. Their is a lot of progress that is why the NCP envies their success and want to jeopardize the future of the south by assaulting their areas, and also plant their agents in the networking to use southerners’ nicknames like Supporter of Naath Cause to advance their agendas based on tribal discrimination. But they proved to be failures in this case since the south new their agenda, we will not do as they like until the country is declared then and only then we will see how strong is SAF to take our possession.

H.E Bakosoro, you have proved beyond dought to the entire world,and to the people of Southern Sudan in particular that you are patriotic brave leader who dosen’t have time to do with tribalism.
You are the first governor who went to diospora and meet the community who are not from your state,and this is the spirit that we want from all our leaders.
You are right, Abyei community are our brothers,and we should share in feeling all the atrocities happening for them.
For those evil one asking where did you got funds to travel with,these are the groups who dosen’t understood what it means by unity and love.Insted they are looking for CURSE!.
It was even clear from the news that you were invited by the community,but because of been blinded by the evil thoughts,they can’t understood that the same community can contribute for the travel,acommondation ect,ect.

Bangasi Bakasoro, smart and diplomatic representation tells who you are and how concerned you are to people’s desire as promised…..I witnessed your tireless campaigns through out Western Equatoria as an independent candidate and you went through successfully. Therefore, keep the hope and courage alive! “All of the great leaders have had one characteristic in common:

I like the positive step taken by the SPLA not to retaliate in protection of South Sudan independence to come next July 9th 2011 though there shall be a cellebration and mourning at the same time. I am not convince with the UNMIS’ main objectives that its striving at, if the Humanitarian Aid Agencies could sacrifice their lives to operate in a risky situations in an aid of the needy, why don’t you give a hand in controlling of the situation instead giving them an option of evacuation due to your giddy respond? Please review your mandatory objectives to achieve the UN desired goal of absolute neutrality and justice.

Khartoum92, better GOSS steals than all the previous regimes in Khartoum.
With all its major failures and weaknesses, GoSS has achieved for South Sudan what all the previous rulers of Sudan including the British failed to achieve.
I don’t condone corruption but at least GOSS stolen money does not end up being used to buy weapons and mercenaries to come and kill South Sudanese like Khartoum did and continues to do.
Beside, understand that this great governor went for official duties not roaming around to show defiance for ICC arrest warrant. Neither does he have any criminal record like some of those governors somewhere wanted by ICC for war crimes.
We are now entitled to go anywhere in the world including Israel and no one should question why and how we do it.
