Sudanese president arrives in Iran for anti-terrorism conference
June 24, 2011 (KHARTOUM) – The Sudanese president Omer Hassan al-Bashir arrived in the Iranian capital on Friday to participate in an anti-terrorism conference, state media reported.
The trip by Bashir is in defiance to the International Criminal Court (ICC), which has issued two arrest warrants on charges of crimes against humanity and genocide in the Darfur region, where a bloody conflict has raged for eight years.
Iran is not a signatory to the country’s founding treaty and is therefore has no obligation to arrest the Sudanese leader.
The two-day International Conference of the Global Campaign against Terrorism will confront the “double standard” of the world powers on terrorism, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Ramin Mehman-Parast said today.
He said powers enter the scene under the pretext of campaign against terrorism when their interests are at stake and they negotiate with terrorists when consider it linked with their interests.
Both Iran and Sudan are on Washington’s list of state sponsors of terrorism.
Bashir will head to Beijing on Sunday night in response to an invitation he received from his Chinese counterpart Hu Jintao.

Bashir is showing those who want him that he is the next successor or deputy of the al Qeada groups. He want to show to the entire world that half the globe like him and half does not like him. It is 50/50%s and this therefore, made him stronger than having been indicted for war crimes.
American and Europians are not taking serious action against him. They only took Libyan case as a priority but Bashir is a matter of joke. Bashir has to go to Iran to acquire weapons for ethnic cleansing in Darfur, South Kordofan and Abyei and nothing else. What matters of interest do they two leaders have? Africans like this kind of Arabisation and that is why the opposed the ICC presecutor Luis Ocampo in his campaign to arrest Bashir.
There is no country that will arrest Bashir unless South Sudan in few decades to come unless Bashir has to tune his attitude to desireable manner. Bashir is a moving grave. Let him enjoy the journey of exploitation of others.
