Jonglei receives new South Sudan currency

July 21, 2011 (BOR) – The long awaited South Sudan Pound has finally arrived in Jonglei with a ceremony on Thursday.
Governor Kuol Manyang told the citizens that anybody found crossing international borders with South Sudan Pounds adding will face 10 years imprisonment.
He said foreigners and South Sudan citizens travelling to Khartoum and other countries shall only exchange their money for dollars or get the currencies of the countries they are travelling to, from the central bank of South Sudan.
Manyang said there will be two months in which the new currency can be exchanged for the old Sudanese Pound.
He also said storing large sums of money at home kills the economy of a country. He said the national currency should be kept at the banks to keep the money circulating in the hands of users.
Kenya Commercial Bank (KCB), being the only bank operating in the state, many people tend to keep their money homes because they lack trust in the bank. Others thought the banks belongs to Kuol, as they misinterpret the abbreviation, KCB-as Kuol Commercial Bank instead of Kenya Commercial Bank. Kuol being the first name of the state governor.
“Those of you who are refusing to keep their money in KCB, the bank is not mine. It is not Kuol Commercial Bank but Kenya Commercial Bank”, said Manyang.
The state legal affairs minister, Mayen Ohka, told the gathering that the new currency should be respected just like the new nation’s flag.
The general public of Jonglei expressed their appreciation of the new currency in terms of its size and appearance including the the special honour given to late Dr. John Garang whose face appears on the notes, but criticized the notes to including a date.

How could the whole nation be blind not to figure out that their currency have no date till public pointed it out.
Commercial bank of South Sudan might have been intoxicated when he signed the legal tender of South Sudan. Otherwise, he could’ve checked out before signing them for public use.

Dear Anei and the rest,
Let’s not confues ouselves for inexperiences as exclusion of the date on the legal tender of south sudan is not a big deal. Not all currencies have dates on them and so does south sudan pound in that regard. I live in Australia and the Australian dollar is not dated like British pound. Ain’t they legal tenders? Hope not. Please dear citizens, let’s not reveal our degree of illiteracy to the world by complaining of dated or not dated pound. world is now laughing at us as people who are not even have little education.

Dear Readers, I am absolutely disturbed by the fact that some journalist such as this guy who wrote this article publish us nonsense, now who told this guy that tenders must be dated. I urge this Journalist to research his articles before publishing, for instance countries such as Australia which I have looked at their tender note has no dates (only the coins had been date with the year) but serial numbers which are there for security reasons and can also be used by the banks to track printing dates. So please Mr. Journalist, stop undermining our new currency and focus on something constrictive. All i am saying is that features in the notes attributes to specific periods of printing, and as for me the date omission will not prevent me from buying something with South Sudanese pound in the market of Juba. I urge the Central bank of South Sudan to provide necessary security to protect our currency from any pontential fraud and limit the use of Dr. heads on all notes, otherwise it would be bouring.

Second to that you have given foreign banks such as
KCB an authority that they can’t listen to their clients
when it come to sending and receiving of money.they
don’t allow clients to receive dollars and they ask

Folks;
Government’s authorized personnel have no intention of omitting date out of SSP. However, the bureaucrats have acknowledged it that, it was a mistake & you all know that “Little education is worse than no education at all.” And given the fact that, South Sudan has little education background makes the citizens to talk big on the missing date in the legal tender of South Sudan.

This currency bring development from south and also will cause corruption like what have been said by greedely Governor Kuol Mayang that no body will across the border of south with Money if he see any one he will arrese him/her for ten years, what about southernes traders?
This greedly man thought that he would lead Jonglei for his life, that is why he opened his mouth wide when he saw the ROSS money. This is not last time no corruption will be allowed.

It’s true there is no date. But is it government failure? no to me,it is lack of supervision in the ministery of finance.like what is happening in jonglei there is no supervision of work from all the ministeries.Which led the blame to governor or Maker Lual Kur, for the case of Bor county,but my question does Governor or commissioner work a lone or there are:
1.MINISTERS 2.DIRECTORS 3.MANAGERS 4.SUPERVISORS
So if any of the above people fail to supervise what he is paid for,then who is to blame now.For example the road from pakwaw to Maroor market was funded well but due to lack of supervision from ministery of physical refrasture.The campany was left alone to decide on what to do ,and that why the road did not reach Maroor market.it is lack of supervision of the above people.Again rabbish disposal or generally hygien and sanitation in Bortown is zero because people are not dealt with by the office of public health.Do you know why a child does not difficate in the house at age of five? this is because a mother or father dealt with him/her by punishing that child so that to use alongdrop(pit laterine)tomorrow.So the people in Bortown are not punish.specially the restraurant owners, bucheries owner and the general public.The government of Bor county should take a lead in this because they are the host county and also the majority community in Bortown.Some business should be close now due to the following:
1.prositution practices 2.rabbish hipping 3.over pricing of goods and services, by the way who is regulate the prices.
So all this works are channel to different ministeries and departments but due to lack of supervision the blame goes back to governor or commissioner.But could one ask him/herself in his /her department what have i done to blame others.
