Upper Nile youth and politician criticise rumour-mongers

August 9, 2011 (MALAKAL) – The deputy governor of Upper Nile, Andrea Maya, on Tuesday told a gathering of the Youth League at the Upper Nile State Secretariat General to avoid tribal politics and rumour-mongering.

“There is this new emerging culture. It is really very bad culture if our people do not stop it. The culture of spreading lies against people, especially government officials by members of the same government in order for them to tarnish political image of their colleagues, as part of attempt to secure jobs for either their relatives or friends”, said Maya.

He advised the youth to keep away from tribal politics and concentrate on pursuing education in order for them to become capable successors of current leaders.

“I want to advice you may dear comrades”, said Maya, “there are people whose intentions are to tarnish the political image of the other people by recruiting other people, especially young people like you against their political competitors”, he said.

Chuol Tut Par, who spoke on behalf of Upper Nile State Youth League, commended the remarks of the deputy governor.

Par accused certain circles in the state of wishing state officials including Governor Simon Kun Puoc bad luck and criticised the “bundles of petitions” written to the President, requesting Puoc’s firing.

James Tut Hoth, another member from the youth group, claimed “There are many people in Juba and in the state spreading lies and rumouring suggesting that the president Salva Kiir will soon fire him.”

Hoth described hearing gossip in the bars, hotels and under the trees of Juba. He described them as “not God-fearing” and said that the President was “getting the names of people spreading lies”.

Idle mind is a devil’s workshop!! A country where everybody is a journalist by his or herself. They don’t even read the Transitional Constitution to validate their rumours!

They should be told that the president has got no ground to fire Puoc. The constitution is very clear and whoever doesn’t believe it will keep on spreading unfounded lies.

The deputy government Abuna Andrea has to correct himself that no one is spreading the lies except he and his boss governor Mr Pouch m1sleading the people of Malakal with wrong information. Recently Andrea divided Mabaan community into small clans for his interest and how could he advice youth to seek education opportunity while he loot the public money and send his kids to Nairobi to get better education instead of building better schools in Malakal so that everybody should get education. How can the youth will be active while Kun and andrea are sleeping in Malakal small hotals with no plan to make youth progress?
Let me tell you guys the secret, Mr andrea got the pressure from Mabaan daispora youth for his political immaturity that frustrated him to address youth about what he named as a culture of rumours.
We don’t need such a wrong leaders like Kun and adrea in coming days because Kun always address people when he go to Juba and Andrea also address people when he wake up from the bar hearing rumours, what kind of leaders using rumours as a agenda to address public? nonsense! let them go, we don’t need them anymore, enough for the money that they steal two rule.

a sense of panic and uncertainty is already surfacing in a New Nation. Did the deputy governor said the president is getting the names of people who spread lies against the Government officials? I don’t want to analys that statement but I left it for citizens do their own judgement of what it meant.

Governemnt officials must understand one thing; majority of people who are not happy with the Govt are not just Youths; Majority are educated “Jeny Amer” who joint the SPLA in late 1980s but they see lose of track in safeguarding what the people fought for. We are telling you to do what the freedom was meant for but not to sell our Nation away to yourselves and foreigners. Do you know how many graduates are on the streets without jobs in South Sudan?

You people better know what is call “opinion polls” to tell you how exactly citizens feel about you. If there is a sense of incomptenec, then something must be done.We don’t say leave the Govt but we say do the right thing. Ok?

    Kaci,
I agree with you in the point of sending the children of the leaders to Nairobi, That is right one of Leaders in NBG State sent more than 100 children(his own children) to Nairobi for schooling there,in many areas of the state there is no even under tree schools.

The schooling costs for the mentioned number of students could have contributed to the development of South Sudan, because they are now buying: ( food, water, books, exercises, pens, school bags, clothes etc.( from the forigners.

Dear compatriots, do you thing those who are sending their children to east Africa have the spirit of patriotism?
The answer is big no, they are looters.

Their concept i discovered that their planning is to inherit the leadership to their well eaducated children leaving others begging them for only food.

I am not saying it all leaders but some selfish leaders.
My question to those who sent their children out of South Sudan:
Do you think that we can boost our economy with out your children’s contribution to the Purchasing power of South Sudan?

The Disavantages of east Africa Education, especially for children Under10 year is that this children will become a photocopy of those countries, they will not behave the way we do.

Please if we want to develop our Country let’s love our country and have a confident in our Ntionalist Teachers.
    God bless South Sudanese teachers.

    Cheers,

    Dear People,

Your comments are such wise comments, no insults as it used to be in most articles. This is a reflect of concerned citizens and I wish that spirit should continue for the good of our beloved Newly Independence Country.

The war of physical confrontation with the North Sudan is won, but now the “economic war” which is the toughest of all the wars our Fathers/Mothers fought since 1820 and intensified from 1955 till true agreement was signed in 2005.

May God bless you the Youth of this great Nation,
    May God bless South Sudan.
