Egypt seeks coordination with Sudan on Nile waters

August 11, 2011 (KHARTOUM) – The Sudanese president Omer Hassan al-Bashir received a letter today from Field Marshal Mohamed Hussein Tantawi who heads Egypt’s Supreme military council that is running the country since president Hosni Mubarak was ousted earlier this year.

The message was delivered by Egypt’s Irrigation Minister Hesham Qandeel who started a two-day visit to Khartoum today.

Qandeel said the letter is related to bilateral ties and continuous coordination with regard to Nile basin issues and revealed the intention to hold tripartite meeting that would include Ethiopia to discuss the dam Addis Ababa intends to build.

Sudan and Egypt have jointly launched a diplomatic offensive against a treaty signed by six of the Nile’s upstream countries – Kenya, Uganda, Ethiopia, Tanzania , Rwanda and Burundi – to alter shares of the Nile water as defined in a colonial-era accord which gives Egypt the lion’s share of the water and the right to veto Nile projects proposed by other countries.

Egypt is strongly opposed to plans by Ethiopia to build a multi-billion dollar mega dam along its share of the Nile near the Sudanese border.

However, Ethiopia insists that the dam will benefit the countries downstream with a better regulated water flow, increase the electrical capacity of the region and lower water-loss due to evaporation.

Under a 1929 pact, Egypt is entitled to 55.5 billion cubic meters a year of the Nile’s flow of around 84 billion cubic meters.

Egypt, threatened by rising temperatures and a growing population, is almost entirely dependent on the Nile for its water and has been nervously watching hydropower dam projects take shape in upriver nations.

This is bulshite; What do the egyptians think Africa is? Angolo- Egyptian rule is dead and burried long time since Countries got their independance and now the South Sudan, therefor, Ethiopia should not give ademn on this stupid but raw treaty, a dam that will benefit most African neighbouring Countries and boost the grwth of Ethiopia shouldn’t be stoped coz, of this treaty signed by people who are dead long time.
South sudan should also identify a fall on the nile to build a multi-billion mega hydro power to boost its industry too, in short, let the member Countries of the treaty break it down and call for none cooperation regarding the Nile waters just like they(Arabs) said Countries obligated to ICC should not cooperate with the ICC to arresting Bashir therefore, the nile water treaty can equally be abolshed and let each Country take advantage of its resources.
They were born in desert they will die in desert.

Nile water is not for Sudan or Egypt, the counties concern must sign up the new treaty of which every country will have its rights of water. otherwise coordination between the two countrie is zero work and they must know that Nile river travel through South Sudan then to those countries.

Egypt should drop its archaic idiotic monopoly .
In 1959 they have used and cheated with the collaboration our then gangster generals.

Sudan be it North or South must exercise its sovereign rights and national wealth to use the Nile fairly and equitably .

Ethiopia who contributes 85% of the Nile waters have the full rights to use their waters in fair and equitable manner with all riparian countries. No one should offend Ethiopia the greatest contributor .

Egypt should strive for sensible manner and must drop its devilish greed attitude .

Our leaders must be very careful of Egypt’s trap. No more to be fooled again.

Those days are gone,1950s agreements are obsolete. The world is changing & shall continue to change.Egypt dependency on water absolutely is not justified, nations upriver are also human beings & need water for their survival, they will never allow their citizens to go thirsty while the Nile waters is flowing to Egyptians who are mightier than them.Egypt should now consult with Israel & buy the technology that israelis use for purifying Meditereanian waters & use it for irrigation.

    Dear Mapour,

I full support what you have said.

    1. The 1959 agreement was signed with the idiot coup d’etat generals of ours. We are not to be fooled again. Our Sudanese Governments should think well ahead now for the interest of its current and future generations.
    2. The 1959 agreement was not signed by the rest Nile Riparian countries . Ethiopia the 85% water contributor was then an independent country. She was not even called to attend . The rest other colonized countries were never consulted. All were deliberately ignored .

The 1959 so called treaty is worthless and not binding to any country.
    3. Egypt has got immense underground water , and the Red Sea and Mediterranean seas. Its time for Egypt to start tapping these resources , instead of creating havoc.
    4. All Nile riparian countries and peoples have right to use Allah’s given natural wealth – the Nile.

    Dear Readers

“Water is life” Nile water gives high percentage of life for Egypt. Egypt is to face real justice in the usage of Nile water and she must be judged to compensate the riparian for her selfish rights over Nile water right from 1929 till date of new Nile water treaty.

Nile water is going to be time bomb on all the Riparian countries of Africa.

Enough is enough for domination and colonial era is over.

Soon countries will build up alliance for war over this river if Egyptian domination continues.

Life is sweat for all if water is life then…??

    Hello! Fans.

This website becomes scams. Why I say so? Because this people change change sentences to from either postive or negative. For example, “I don’t need that” they will change it to “I do need that” in postive of their interests.

Fuck your self Egypt. Africa is for Africans. This people want to be Africans when they went to benefit something from Africa and Africans and they want to be Middle Eastern when there isn’t any benefit left. So how about you just get some water from the red sea or some country in the Middle East. I think Israel will be your best bet since you too love each other so much. LoL… Any way I LOVE YOU my fellow Sudanies people. Peace be with you and ya keep up the love between south and north sudan. I am sure I know 20% of you who live in America. This is message from Dinka Twic East Civil Group. We the Dinka Twic East are not involved in that apology by Vice President Riek Machar. The apology he has done was for Dinka Bor only. Also his apology was a setup by Dinka Bor people who trying to take credits or to discard Dinka Twic East true identity.
We the Dinka Twic East people, we are still waiting our true apology from Dr. Riek Machar, and it could be done in Panyagor, the headquarter of Twic East County. That’s where the incident of the 1991 occurred. For those people who done know the name of that incident, please it is calls “Southeastern Dinka Massacre or in actuality when it comes to really title based on impacted people. It is calls Dinka Twic East Massacre. Dinka Twic East tribe is different from Dinka Bor. They have different characters and dialects as well. It is true even God (Nhialic) knows it.

Please be aware that, this website always omits some information inside any message the think is not in there interests. Also the website is owned by Dinka Bor people and Dinka Twic East. That’s why they always ignore or discards our true claims.

N/B: Dr. John Garang se Mabior is Dinka Twic East. During the movement he was using Dinka Bor for Two reasons:

    (a) Dinka Bor was the one tribe in that region Jonglei that was documented as legitimate tribe there when Garang took over SPLM/A. It was done by intellectuals and scholars who were often driven by these words: nepotism (brotherhood & sisterhood), selfish, ignorant, pride of individual backgrounds and ignorant of other tribes as dominant signs, etc.

Dinka Twic East is not that small, and also Dinka Bor should be proud about 2009 census as they are more than Dinka Twic East in population.

We the Dinka Twic East people need government of South Sudan to checks Bor County population for its being divide into two counties.

Dinka Twic East has three sections: Lith, Ajuong & Pakeer, and Dinka Bor has two sections: Athooc & Gok.

Truth and History will not be steal from Dinka Twic East.
