US deputy chief of mission to South Sudan visits Jonglei

By John Actually

August 12, 2011 (BOR) – The US deputy chief of mission to South Sudan, Christopher Datta, with his team visited Jonglei, Bor to see the progress of the US funded projects in the state on Friday.

The US delegates were received by the state governor, Kuol Manyang at Bor airport, after which they held a thirty minute-closed door meeting that discussed the state insecurity amongst other challenges and the how the US can intervene.

Datta told the reporters after the meeting that his team visited the state to see the progress of the US funded projects which includes police training projects to improve the security situation in the state.

“We have a number of training projects involving security, trying to improve security in the state. We are working with the police, the police training and we also working with prison authorities and others to try to improve the security situation in the state”, said Datta.

Asked on how US can improve security in the state since there is no good road network supported by USAID in Jonglei, Datta said US has started a road network in Nimule to connect South Sudan to Uganda to improve commerce between Uganda and South Sudan.

He said they are also working in Yambio with European partners to create a road system from Wau that will go all the way to Juba, saying as those projects are completed “we will be looking to start other projects in other places and hopefully Bor will be one of the places we will move to in the future”.

Datta said they are working with the state government and South Sudan army (SPLA) in training programs to improve the capacity of law enforcement in the state and the national level. He said they have had additional military talks with the SPLA to see what they can do to improve the situation the in the newly independent Republic of South Sudan.

Governor Kuol said he appreciated the involvement of US government for their contribution by urging both sides to sign the Comprehensive Peace Agreement (CPA) in 2005.

A two decade north-south conflict that started in 1983 for the second time, ended with the signing the CPA that gave southerners right to self-determination. Around 98 percent of votes were in favour of South Sudan secession.

The new nation, the Republic of South Sudan declared its independence on 9 July, the day CPA expired.

“It is the involvement of America in peace negotiation that brought about peace in our country. During the war, [the] American government has been giving us support in inform of relief service to our people”, said Manyang.

“After the signing of Comprehensive Peace Agreement, government of South of Sudan continued receiving the developmental projects funded by America. So we consider them to be friends indeed”, he continued.

Accompanying Datta were three officials from Washington who had come to visit the projects the US is supporting.

According to Manyang, the absence of good roads is the main stumbling block in maintaining security. He said his government urged US to help them in road building.

“If there are no roads, no development can take place. So we urged them to support us in the building of roads and schools, especially for girls so that they are not engaged at earlier ages. As we are going to hold peace conference in the state, we also asked them to continue supporting us so that we release peace”, he said.

Jonglei state tops South Sudan insecurity reports yearly with cattle rustling and child abduction the major causes of inter-tribal conflicts between Dinka Bor, Nuer and Murle among other tribes.

Jongole, the least state that hasn’t seen development, this is because of corruption. All the governments officials such as Nyandeng garang are busy in Juba building hotels instead of going to their state and develop it.This is the end to the bor community, no more chances like before, its a curse brought you by your leaders.

KUOL Manyang, Kiir, and Nyadeng all need to apologize to the Naath Nuer comunity for killing of 1991 in Equatorial Chukudum. Otherwise let Bor Community stop their dimension of prejudice. Bor community think that they are smart than anyone in the South Sudan. Dr.Garang killed several highly ranks Naath Nuer community but Naath Nuer never complain about it because they need peace in South Sudan. Also, Bor community thought that they were only one died during the struggle in our country and that is called social categorization with negative thinking to other communities in South Sudan. This is last warning to Bor community to stop falsification to media in the Juba. who want to fight should come forward and said frankly without meandering around the bush. if Bor still complaining, the great Naath Nuer will take some action promptly before the sunset in the west.

This is message from Dinka Twic East Civil Group. We the Dinka Twic East are not involved in that apology by Vice President Riek Machar. The apology he has done was for Dinka Bor only. Also his apology was a setup by Dinka Bor people who trying to take credits or to discard Dinka Twic East true identity.
We the Dinka Twic East people, we are still waiting our true apology from Dr. Riek Machar, and it could be done in Panyagor, the headquarter of Twic East County. That’s where the incident of the 1991 occurred. For those people who done know the name of that incident, please it is calls “Southeastern Dinka Massacre or in actuality when it comes to really title based on impacted people. It is calls Dinka Twic East Massacre. Dinka Twic East tribe is different from Dinka Bor. They have different characters and dialects as well. It is true even God (Nhialic) knows it.

Please be aware that, this website always omits some information inside any message the think is not in there interests. Also the website is owned by Dinka Bor people and Dinka Twic East. That’s why they always ignore or discards our true claims.

N/B: Dr. John Garang se Mabior is Dinka Twic East. During the movement he was using Dinka Bor for Two reasons:

    (a) Dinka Bor was the one tribe in that region Jonglei that was documented as legitimate tribe there when Garang took over SPLM/A. It was done by intellectuals and scholars who were often driven by these words: nepotism (brotherhood & sisterhood), selfish, ignorant, pride of individual backgrounds and ignorant of other tribes as dominant signs, etc.

Dinka Twic East is not that small, and also Dinka Bor should be proud about 2009 census as they are more than Dinka Twic East in population.

We the Dinka Twic East people need government of South Sudan to checks Bor County population for its being divide into two counties.

Dinka Twic East has three sections: Lith, Ajuong & Pakeer, and Dinka Bor has two sections: Athooc & Gok.

Truth and History will not be steal from Dinka Twic East.

Cadaai or whatever you called yourself.

you denied being Dinka Bor , shame on you and I pity you as being son of a woman indeed , why not post your own artcle rather than tarnishing the name of Bor where you were born and raised up on the net by giving your negative comment.

I can judge you from my point of view as someone who wants to raise a wrong ideology to create a state of anarchy to your own people , what Riek did was not for one individual but trying to apologize on behave of all of us , who are you to call your self we the DINKA TWIC ? do you think Riek’s comrade only came to killed twic people, what of Duk and the Bor you ‘re claiming to have been given apologize by the VP.

Think twice my dear , we all suffered this fate .who doesn’t have a stain of blood on his/her hand orchestrated by the so called politicians not only Riek.

”change” as a word of advice ,if not you will see some dirty comments on your post , but you won’t feel ok ,unless you are dead alive .

We are Dinka Twic East people and not Dinka Bor people. I think you are just one those kids from Dinka Bor who had sent to exile by parents during the movement because they cann’t afford him. Why I say so? Because you don’t know the History or different between Dinka Bor and Dinka Twic East. I am not going to say more because it wasting of time and also history will challenges illiteracy when you learn and grow ups later.

Our advice to readers, this message is not related to this article. We the Dinka Twic East Civil Group were passing our message to larger audience.

    Hi belle
what you just said is not relevance with US deputy chief visits Jonglei.Should you come up with this point in different day be man with reasonable capacity and this is why you nuer people have problem in south sudan, look how many parties do nuer have by themsevles,is that a democracy or tribes parties, you want south sudan to be nuer country, you will go nowhere.
Let me come to your point dinka bor should apologies to nuer people, think and think again there is no particular bor peole killed nuer, they could be SPLA soldier who might have killed you guys because you don,t understand what Spla where doing, and says it dinka bor killed,SPLA is not belong to dinka bor it belong to all south sudan people.Dinka bor is some tribe in south sudan and if you compare the ratio of they people die in the war with nuer I think the number of bor will be great
