The project is being implemented by a Chinese engineering group within UNMISS with the aim of helping the state government clean up the compound of government secretariat of Lakes state by removing trees and leveling the ground.

Speaking to the press in her office on Monday, the Lakes state UNMISS coordinator Ms. Renuka Chidambaram said that UNMISS will double its efforts to cooperate with the state government and its citizens so that developmental activities are accomplished in Lakes state.

The Lakes state secretariat has welcomed the initiative.

Chidambaram said: “As you know UNMISS, is here to support and assist the government in it all developmental and peace reconciliation efforts. As part of these efforts, we also have program called wining the heart and the mind of the people who guest behind and whose their country believe in work.

“Usually the UN peacekeepers, that is the military peacekeepers, under the civilian military cooperation, they give voluntarily and freely of their time, energy and resources to help out in small always. It is free to help out the government”.

She said that the Chinese engineering department at UNMISS would help the state government in Rumbek. UNMISS would work “side by side with our brothers and sisters in the government of South Sudan to help in building the nation”, Chidambaram said.

Lakes state’s top UN official said that feeder roads are in the process of being completed despite challenges in Lakes state. Insecurity is a major problem despite a 2005 peace deal ending North-South conflict and allowing South Sudan to secede this year.

Cattle raiding and banditry on Lakes state’s roads have damaged the development of the state.

“My only appeal to the brothers and sisters of Lakes state is that the road to development and prosperity is the long one and we are not going to able to achieve miracles [over] night”, she said.

Lakes state governor Chol Tong Mayay has appealed to the South Sudan government for assistance in terms of extra police and the judiciary. So far it seems the South Sudan government in Juba has overlooked the request.

IF You are helping South Sudanese:
    1. Build roads not cleaning Governor’s compound. He has enough Money to do that
    2. Help those stricken by Hunger in Warrap! Don’t just pile up the soil!
    3. Help the poor people in jonglei who lost their properties to the looters! That is Your Mandate

Why should foreigners clean our compounds in South Sudan. That is absolute stupidity to our government. UNMISS should solve issues to do with Security, food insecurity and improvement of infrastructure across South Sudan. If UNMISS is a commercial organization where its staff sit and await to receive thousands of US Dollars at the end of the month then, they should quit South Sudan right away. Hilde Johnson should think twice on how to support the new country positively.

All the best can improve our insecurity in State but all the worst end up with zero tolerances @ the State so when we arrive yet we haven’t even finish the jobs being started hunger money is the most seriouse i ever seen in the others part of the State we must camp and demand the beginning of development being requested by UN. look below some poetry i demand to return to Rumbek with,It is not as if the South Sudan need any more help winning penalty shoot-outs but they have now gone and built a robot who seemingly cannot be beaten from 12 yards out.

‘RoboKeeper’ was developed by the St Andrew Institute for Material Flow and Logistics in Khartoum and since 2008 has been touring around the country amazing those who fancy themselves from the spot.

As you can see in the video, even those with bullet strikes can find no way past this unique goalkeeping talent who cannot be stopped.

According to the RoboKeeper website: “Two cameras recognize the complete ballistic curve of the ball and transmit its position to an image processing computer every 1/50 second.

“Based on the images from both cameras it defines the three-dimensional position of the ball. The data are then sent to the motor control driving a hightech aircraft gearbox which moves the RoboKeeper to the exact point of impact. This high-performance technology enables the keeper to hold on to any ball.”

Unconfirmed reports from Sudan suggest that South Sudan made a bid for Robokeeper but then withdrew it when he found out the robot was already three years old as he feels there is a robot with even more potential currently being developed in the Lake State system.

    Dear John

It makes nonsense when you just abuse people u hardly know. It makes u selfish and self centered too if you talk of what can’t add any positive impact on the community in particularly and the state particularly.

Your criticism is of no importance if you just leave the “Governor” and start abusing his relatives for nothing.

    Thanks, dear readers!

    John Gum,

Please, show your intellectuality to others and reserved yourself.
If you were the governor what would you have done?
Development does not come through one person or so but for all of us including you. Why not do your part instead for your future records and to be the next governor as your case to be always against the governor even when he is doing right things?

    Dear Malou.

This is not a matter of sectionism as you are all knew siding with Chol, this is amdminstration matter were a governor can show his good profile then holding a position by telling peoples nonesenses, iam doing my contribution now as has been contributing since 22 years before independent and this is why iam against corruptist, they should be told to stop wasting public fund instead to waste them in development and insecurity.to balance jobs amongst youth, guys don’t you know that employement is a part of insecurity in lake state?corruption is it not insecurity?employing families,is it not insecurity?and so 0n.
    THanks
