JEM calls on leaders of the Libya revolution and the international community for safe release of Dr. Khalil Ibrahim, President of JEM.
A statement from JEM:
JEM congratulates the revolutionary Libyan people in their giant leap towards freedom, democracy and justice. These are precisely the same ideals that JEM has been fighting for and the Libyan historic experience will remain a shining model across the African and Arab regions.
Subsequent to our previous communications, we reiterate calling on the new Libyan leaders, the NATO, the UN and other international organisations to work for safe release of President of JEM who has been under involuntary presence in Tripoli since May 2010. Detention of Dr. Ibrahim in Libya was part of a regional conspiracy to isolate JEM leadership from its popular and military base and should not be allowed to continue.
Since the start of the Libyan uprising, Khartoum Government has been deploying its insidious racist media machinery to implicate JEM and other African circles in fighting as Gadhafi mercenaries. We appeal to the Libyan people and their new leaders not to be misled by Khartoum and to take all measures to protect all Sudanese and African immigrants in Libya.
Long live the Libyan struggle for democracy
Long live our struggle for justice and equality.
