Chadian, Sudanese ruling parties hold talks

KHARTOUM, June 3, 2004 (SUNA) — Secretary-General of the National Congress (NC) Ibrahim Ahmed Omer has affirmed the necessity of NC and the ruling Chadian Patriotic Salvation Movement carrying out their role towards confronting the challenges facing the two countries and realizing the aspirations of the two peoples.

Addressing the inaugural sitting of the 2nd. meeting of the Joint Political Committee between the two parties Thursday, Omer asserted the deeply rooted relations and bonds between Sudan and Chad.

He reiterated appreciation to the mediation led by the Chadian President, Iddris Deby, for solving Darfur problem, indicating to the comprehensive understanding of President Deby to Darfur problem.

He pointed to establishment of a number of joint committees on cooperation in the political, economic and social fields.

The Political Secretary of NC, Dr. Magzoub Al-Khalifa, affirmed the necessity of coordination between the two ruling parties, stressing the importance of holding the meeting amid regional and international developments.

Meanwhile, the Secretary-General of the Chadian Patriotic Salvation Movement Mohammed Hussein reiterated that his party work to set up a political partnership with the NC based on cooperation and consultation on issues of common concern, indicating to the great role being played by President Deby for solving situations in Darfur states and realizing stability along the joint borders.
