October 31, 2011 (JUBA) – Thousands of citizens welcomed the president of South Sudan, Salva Kiir, to his home village, Akon in Gogrial West county, Warrap state.

Kiir made the visit despite reports suggesting that rebels threatened to attack the state.

James Machok Deng, a member of Warrap state Legislative Assembly told Sudan Tribune that the president’s reception had been “huge” and that people lined the road from Tharkueng to Gogrial town.

Deng explained that people were present in order to thank Kiir for leading the people through the referendum, to congratulate him on becoming the first president of South Sudan and to listen to him speak.

“This was indeed a unique visit because of the level the state government responded,” said Deng, as the state government had prepared the Wau to Kuacjok road to a tight deadline, to prepare for Kiir’s visit.

However, he was critical, asking “why do they work only to please the president?” suggesting that the road maintenance would was contingent on Kiir’s visit.

Kiir stopped in Wau, capital of Western Bahr el Ghazal state where he held a meeting with members of the state cabinet and members of the state parliament before he proceed to Warrap where he addressed another cabinet meeting. A public address in Kuacjok was cancelled.

Mr. Kiir, you need to listen to the voice of the people of Warrap State. Governor Nyandeng need to be relieved from her governorship if you care about the development and suffering of the people. Why don’t you accept the demand of the people and replace her with a capable hard-working person who care about people and development of Warrap State.

I don’t care where the president come from as long as he is fulfilling and presenting the interests of the people of South Sudan, for those who wants to see their uncles or tribesman as a president so that they will be happy are day dreaming. The majority of the people are behind Kiir. Kiir you have our blessing, anyone who wants to take power by force will fail or die doing so.

Indeed, you have hit the point Michael, kiir will do it despite the fact that he refused to address the rally in warrap.I know Nyandeng will soon resign before president talks. Do you know Why? It’s because, when the shield is being graps the dependent will surrender.so she soon surrender otherwise.

This is a great move Mr. President. You need to visits all ten states to give thanks to the people of Republic of South Sudan. Mr. President, I hope you have realize that there is negligence towards development in those states. One of the example is that road maintenance from Wau to Kuajok has just been done because of your visit to please you.

Kiir will never come on your door and say take this, now go start working or you eat this. That will never happen. Those who say Governor Nyandeng Malek should be removed from her work are dreaming a daymare, govt only provide security, public services like hospitals, education centres… Mention it but you are the one that only determine your life. Talk about lack of security, no public services

Why should he come to Unity State when you people there are planning day and night to oust him from the power and reinstate your tribesman? Tell those RATS in the bush to stop war and join others in nation building, otherwise, no one from your tribe will come to power through an election, and if you choose force then he will not stay for long in power.

You have really hit the central point of my views, if our president is seeing how thing are going on here,he will not go back without having released a word of removing Nyandeng who does do care of citizen of this State, I was laughing to see her repairing the road when she heard of President coming to warrap, Kiir was supposed to get out of V 8 and wave at returnees who have never seen him before

You are right Agor, Nyandeng wanted to cheat Kiir that Wau – Kuajok road has been like how it was yesterday. Although the visit of the President was a private one, he was supposed to use pickup instead of land cruiser where he was not seen greeting the gathering, mostly the returnees who waited for a long time to see Kiir physically otherwise his private visit would have not been announced.

Let us leave this spirit of pleasing leaders. Why should the road be repaired when the president is making a visit to the state? I am asking the governess. The road from Kwacjok to Wau is a main road linking the two cities. It should be maintained all the time or be tarmaced ,not to wait for a president’s visit.

    Dear President ,
your visit is an opportunity for the people of Warrap state to enjoy the good road ,sincerely speaking the road from wau to kuajok was very bad, but due to your visited , it only took less then a day to get it repaired, then you should plan to visit other states whose their Governors are sleeping ,many leaders prepared to work hard when their masters are present.
