The announcement came in a meeting on Wednesday in Juba between the vice president of South Sudan, Riek Machar, and a delegation of the California-based PCIP led by its president and CEO, Jerrold D. Green.

A press release from the vice president’s office said the meeting discussed a wide range of issues particularly on projects South Sudan would need assistance in from the American public and private institutions.

In particular, the delegation expressed interest to assist on issues of capacity building of law enforcement agencies in South Sudan, among others. They also extended an invitation to the leadership to visit the US for more discussions with various institutions.

The vice president briefed the delegation extensively on a number of challenges the new state faces and would need support in.

‘These include issues relating to insecurity and management of development expectations of the people of South Sudan,’ the press release says.

Machar said the government has a vision to turn South Sudan into the financial and transport hub of Africa. He revealed that an international airport bigger than those of the neighboring countries would be built at Tali, north of the current capital, Juba, and with a free zone around it near the proposed new capital of Ramciel.

He said the airport would be built in partnership with a credible international airliner in order to fly in cargoes and biggest planes some of the other international airports currently do not handle in the region.

It is incomprehensible to see some of commentators posting terrible messages that are directed toward our leaders with impunity but people like James Okuk are in jail for the same reason. Is there anything that South Sudanese should know about the law being inforced by our law inforcement? The moderators seem to lean toward pleasing certain group.

I think Dr. Reik is being abused here!!!

But whoever gives birth to useless children like Riek and you, what would you say of him except that he has bred sorrows for himself, and furnishes laughter for his enemies.
Don’t ever think of somebody getting arrested because of riek.
