S. South new capital: Ramciel local administrator says roads clearance begins

November 7, 2011 (JUBA) – The local administrator of the proposed territory of the new capital of South Sudan, Ramciel, said they have begun the work to clear all roads leading to the area.

Francis Manyal Atuot the administrator of Ramciel, Lakes state, came to Juba on Thursday and briefed the vice president, Riek Machar. Atout said that the relocation is welcomed by the residents of the Ramciel region.

Atuot and Machar were accompanied by the former minister of higher education, science and technology, Job Dhurai, who discussed the proposed locations of river ports in the region.

In August, South Sudan resolved to relocate the capital from Juba to Ramciel. The decision came, in part, as a result of disagreements over the jurisdiction of Juba city between the national government, the Central Equatoria state, Juba county and residents.

A ministerial committee is chaired by the national minister of housing and physical planning, Jemma Nunu Kumba, to implement the relocation.

The committee shall carry out a feasibility study and will survey the area before the construction of buildings begins in 2012.

A number of credible national and international companies have been bidding to win the contracts.

    He is called Manyiel Atuot Abongbaar, not Manyal. Son of land owners accompanied by the great man professor Job Dharuai Malou, who is also expecting to be the first Lord Mayor of the Ramciel City. No way he has been resident of the place before council of ministers declared Ramciel as national Capital City of the Republic of South Sudan

    I was glad to hear the mister of housing on SSTV that there is no contract yet been awarded to design the capital as its was alleged on sudantribune. It was a fake design, and I don’t think South Sudan could had throw public money for this fake design, I have searched some website to find out but for my surprise I have find its was kind of just copy and paste design, one similar city in Angola.

    @Thonkiir,
    Look at how hostile and chauvinistic you sound. It disgusts alot 2 encounter such comments from the very people who used 2 complain about the Bari selfishness n hostility in Juba City. Let me advise U brother, refrain from such comments that may tarnish ur image n that of the over all Muonyjang people of Greater Bahr el Ghazal who are very hospitable n welcoming esp in land matters.

    Takpiny, I’m talking about the design, if you follow the news on SSTV, more than a week ago the minister of housing came to refute the allegations of design of Capital which was posted on this website late of this month, which actually the minister denied existence of such contract, she didn’t even know where these allegation come from.
