With the arrest of Ngor Arol Garang and Dengdit Ayok, we in UJOSS have deeply concerned with absolute need to the Government of South Sudan to respect and recognize our importance in this new nation and the world as a whole meaningful democracy, rule of law and respect to fundamental of human rights and freedom of media the Country.
Ngor Arol Garang was early arrested by the Country’s security services last Wednesday 2nd November in a connection to the destiny published an article over the marriage of the South Sudan, president’s daughter to an Ethiopian national.
Ngor Arol arrested has been recognized internationally as on Monday, the Amnesty International and the International rights groups urged the central authorities in Juba to reveal Journalist whereabouts and grant him immediate release from the custody.
Also in Juba, the civil society groups continue to react luminary over Ngor’s illegal arrest.
Meanwhile the South Sudanese Community Empowerment for progress Organization also released a statement condemning the Journalist’s detention as well as Human Rights Watch on Monday.
This appeared not the frits for the security services in South Sudan to apprehend Journalists but this has inspired with the arrest of Citizen Chief Editor newspaper, Nhail Bol early this year in October 2011.
The security in new nation is failing to recognize the importance of Journalist’s rights and their obligations in the fulfillment of journalists’ professional responsibility and safe regarding the public interests together.
