November 10, 2011 (BOR) – A five year old school girl was shot dead and a woman injured in an attack in Makuach village of Anguai on 8 November reported the Bor County Commissioner on 10 November.
An anonymous source told Sudan Tribune that a five year old girl was shot dead in the house where she was hiding.
The injured woman, Aluel Mach Yuai, was carried to the hospital where she delivered a baby boy on 9 November.
Bor county commissioner, Maker Lual, said his county had suffered a great deal recently; on Wednesday a 13 year old boy – Deng Madit Aleer – was abducted from a bus from Juba and cattle were rustled in Luak, north-east of Mareng village in Anyidi Payam (district).
According to Lual, eight Murle gunmen stopped the bus at Malith-Thor, stole money and other belongings from the passengers and abducted the boy. The boy’s father, Madit Aleer, was waiting for his son at Pariak.
Lual called for calmness in the villages and urged the national government to disarm the civil population in the state.
The youth leader of Ater villages, Agot But Agot said, the “situation is unbearable.”
A member of parliament to the Jonglei assembly and member of the Murle ethnic group, Peter Baba Medan, told Sudan Tribune from Juba that they are trying their best to bring about peace between Murle, Anuak, Nuer and Dinka-Bor ethnic groups.
Medan said he has a team including the former paramount chief, Ismeal Konyi, and adviser on community security to Jonglei governor, Judi Jungle, met in Juba to discuss a peace initiative.
Medan explained that the team will travel to the villages in Pibor villages to pass the message of peace.
