Norway grants NOK 37.5 mill in humanitarian aid to Western Sudan
OSLO, June 05, 2004 (Norway Post) — The Norwegian Government has granted NOK 37.5 million in humanitarian aid to be used in Darfur in Western Sudan. This brings to NOK 72.5 million (US $ 5.6 millions) the amount of humanitarian assistance granted to the refugees in Darfur and Chad inb less than a year.
The situation in Darfur is very critical. More than a million people have been displaced from their homes, and the needs are overwhelming, leading to the need for further contributions from the international society, says undersecretary of state, Vidar Helgesen (photo).
