November 13, 2011 (BOR) – Jonglei state members of opposition party the United Democratic Front (UDF) dismissed and distanced themselves on Saturday, from their former leader, Peter Abdul Rahaman Sule, who was arrested on 3 November while allegedly attempting to form a rebel moment in Western Equartoria state.
In a press conference called by Joice James Konyi and John Jal Thiac, both members of Jonglei’s parliament, on Saturday, said their party is not supporting formation of rebel group against the government of South Sudan.
Peter Abdul Rahaman Sule was arrested by Sudan People’s Liberation Army (SPLA) on Thursday 3 November, in Western Equartoria state attempting to form a rebellion against the government of South Sudan.
Mrs James, who chairs gender and child wellfare committee in the Jonglei parliament, said Sule did not inform the party about his rebellion plan saying “he took up guns at his [own] will.”
John Jal said the party will still continue in the absence of Abdul.
“South Sudan government cannot stop UDF from its existence. When one rebels, it doesn’t mean the party has rebelled,” said Jal.
“Some SPLM members had rebelled against the government and SPLM is still continuing now, the same is true for UDF,” he stated.

Politically, they are damn right to distance themselves from their party leader, however, I think this party is not influential and doing anything either. They are mere puppets in the national parliament. SPLM is also the most failed and dictatorial party of all in South Sudan. They are simply bunches of crooks, hooligans, thugs, and thieves. I have been a staunch member of the old-SPLA/M in past.

The SPLM/A i once cherished and adored as people’s party and movement for all the marginalized Sudanese had been turned into a party of hooligans, crooks, thugs, and thieves and so for that case, I have abandoned this failed and dictatorial SPLM party. I call for the dissolution of all south sudan political parties and be emerged into one political alliances to beat and eliminate the SPLM Party.
