Chadian president confirms his readiness to continue mediation between Sudan and rebels
KHARTOUM, June 5, 2004 (SUNA) — President of the Republic Gen. Omer Al-Beshir has received a written message from his Chadian counterpart, Idris Deby. The Secretary-General of the Chadian Patriotic Salvation Movement, Mohammed Hussein, handed over the message to President Al-Beshir Saturday at the Guest House.
The Secretary-General of the Chadian ruling party told SUNA that the message was dealing with the bilateral relations and issues of mutual concern, adding that it also included congratulations of President Deby and the people of Chad to Sudan government and people on signing of the peace agreement.
He reiterated the readiness of President Deby to continue mediation between Sudan government and arms holders in Darfur toward realization of stability and peace in Darfur states.
Hussein expressed satisfaction over the achievements which were realized by the two ruling parties in Sudan and Chad, indicating that a new meeting of the joint Political Committee would be held in Chad in the coming few months.
