EU, China and Japan hail Darfur ceasefire monitoring agreement
KHARTOUM, June 5, 2004(SUNA) –The European Union, China and Japan have welcomed an agreement between Sudan government and the African Union on the monitoring of ceasefire in Darfur states as well as steps for facilitating the flow of relief to the area.
The State Minister for Foreign Affairs, Najib Al Khair Abdul-Wahab, in a press statement Saturday said that he acquainted the European Union, Japan and China Ambassadors to Khartoum on steps for facilitating flow of humanitarian aid to Darfur, besides the agreement and financial requirements to put it into action.
The diplomats have appreciated the move since the agreement is essential to restore stability and security in Darfur, he said. Meanwhile, the Japanese and Chinese Ambassadors said that they support the cease-fire monitoring agreement.
