British Secretary of State for International Development begins visit to Sudan

KHARTOUM, June 6, 2004 (SUNA) — Mr. Hilary Benn MP, the British Secretary of State for International Development arrived in Khartoum Sunday on a three-day official visit to Sudan during which he will hold talks with a number of government officials.

He was received upon arrival at Khartoum Airport by the State Minister for Foreign Affairs, Dr. Al-Tigani Salih Fedial, and the British Ambassador to Sudan, William Pattey.

Meanwhile, the British Ambassador said that the minister’s visit aims at consolidating the bilateral relations, and in the context of Britain’s concern with the peace process in Sudan and the situation in Darfur.

The British minister will meet with senior Sudanese government officials and visit Darfur states.
