The vice president of South Sudan, Riek Machar, who has been chairing the retreat deliberations, and the minister of foreign affairs of Kenya, Moses Wetangula, officiated the opening of the second program.

The first group of ministers and deputy ministers completed a one-week retreat in Mombassa in November, where issues of importance in governance were deliberated upon and experiences were shared.

Wetangula reaffirmed the Kenyan commitment to continue supporting South Sudan in its economic development.

According to James Gatdet Dak, Machar’s press secretary, Wetangula urged South Sudan and the Sudan to resolve the outstanding issues of the Comprehensive Peace Agreement (CPA), the signing of which ended more than two decades of civil war in 2005.

Wetangula urged the two Sudans to resolve the Abyei dispute, warning that this should be done within 24 months, before the situation becomes a chronic border dispute like the case of Kashmir between India and Pakistan.

It is a pity that the government of South Sudan National Ministers are exposed to that extend of meeting thier counter parts in Kenya but cannot live up to the expectation of the citizens.
For instance, Wetangula was recently cleared of graft but no a single head had been summoned among the big 13.

Why in the world are these corrupt and inept minister wasting taxpayers’ money on a retreat costing millions of pounds? Can’t they meet in South Sudan and save our money? South Sudan is now a weak country run by corrupt gang called SPLM. It is not going to be a worthy country for our children.

I am a South Sudanese who would like to see good governance.
People sleep in their houses with no fear.No massacres taking please in the Country like what is currently taking place, but how/Does it mean taking retreats will improve security especially in Juba and other parts of South Sudan?
Please Ministers do not go for such retreat and learn nothing to save your country from ruins.

When the peace loving population gets tired of such crimes ,they will become drunk and take the law into their own hands. They will never mind whether you blackmail them or ruthlessly treat them.It is high time all stakeholders wake up and begin taming this crime in Juba and around Juba including up countries.SPLA/SPLM sh’d retain its good image that was acquired during the war.
