OIC’s delegation of starts visit to Sudan’s Darfur region

KHARTOUM, June 6, 2004 (SUNA) — A delegation of the Secretariat General of the Organization of Islamic Conference (OIC), led by Assistant Secretary General for Political Affairs, Izzat Kamil Al-Mufti, left Sunday for Al-Fasher, North Darfur State.

During the field visit the delegation would meet with senior officials in the state, besides visiting displaced camps in Darfur, prior to submitting a report to the OIC Secretary General on the situation in Darfur states.

The delegation is expected to return to Khartoum on Monday to meet with chairman of the higher preparatory national committee for the Peaceful Co-existence Conference in Darfur, Izz-Eddin Al-Sayed, and the State Minister for Foreign Affairs, Dr. Al-Tegani Salih Fedail.

The OIC delegation commenced its meetings Saturday with Chairman of the Crisis Management Department at the Foreign Ministry, the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Engineer Ibrahim Hamid, and the Minister of Investment and head of the government delegation for the negotiations in N’djamena.
