Ex-British premier assures S. Sudan of UK support

By Julius N. Uma

December 10, 2011 (JUBA) — Former British prime minister Tony Blair on Saturday pledged his country’s commitment towards addressing South Sudan’s post-independence challenges, and assured the latter of the full support of the international community.

Former British PM Tony Blair (R), who leads a panel discussion on aid to Africa, speaks as Liberian Minister of Economic Affairs Amara Konneh (L), South Sudanese Minister of Finance Kosti Manibe Ngai (2nd L), listen during a forum on the sidelines of the Fourth High Level Forum on Aid Effectiveness in the southeastern port city of Busan on November 29, 2011. Blair, who paid a courtesy visit to Juba, the South Sudan capital for the first time held a meeting with Nhial Deng Nhial, the country’s foreign minister, before another meeting with South Sudan’s president Salva Kiir.

The former British premier remained cautious when asked about the main purpose of his visit, but instead he focused on the enormous challenges facing Africa’s new nation.

Blair’s visit comes amidst growing tension between South Sudan and its northern neighbour, and fears that both nations risk going back to war.

The former British premier said his mission was to extend the spirit of the Blair Commission for Africa; a charity organisation, which was established by the British government to examine and provide impetus for development in Africa.

The Commission, initiated in 2004 currently works with 17 African leaders to deliver effective implementation of existing international commitments towards Africa through generation of new ideas for development.

Born in May 1953, Charles Lynton Blair, a member of the country’s Labour party, served as UK’s prime minister from 1997 to 2007.

During his tenure, however, he was widely criticised for his support for the foreign policy of US President George W. Bush’s war against terror, especially in Iraq and Afghanistan.

British has hand in South Sudanese their suffering. Khartoum promise British, they will granted South Sudanese self determination during Independence which Khartoum didn’t do so and British fail to follow up Khartoum to fulfill their promise. Anyway, the former British PM his move is highly welcome by citizens of RoSS.

competent and caring leaders, in the eyes of their masses and the rest of the world! They want to keep us busy thinking only about what to eat so that we remain backward forever, so as to always look up at them as our redeemers! They make us loss our self-confident and dignity, and thus we begin to under estimate ourselves and start to falsely imagine ourselves as third class citizens of the world!

If they really want us to develop and become like the rest of the world, then why did they kill The King Gadhafi of Libyan, CEO of African Union and pan Africa organisations, that was about to use his country’s wealth to get Africans out of poverty and reliance on western aid? Why they didn’t allow headquarter of the so-called African Union to be in Libya? Isn’t because it would have been totally.

independent of their influence! If the west genuinely wants to help us, then let it stop being bias towards our internal policies, provides us with expertise and equipment for modern intensive farming in the form of fertilizers, farming machineries etc.! So that we can independently produce our food and become self-sufficient! Otherwise, let them not fool us!

Gunkills, not only that, britain had blocked any human relationship or natural interaction between north and south. They open the borders only after they saw the seeds of hatred and suspicion and after that they annexed the South to the north after there were mountains of mistrust and suspicion. They told southerner that they could be enslaved while have enslaved all of AFRICA
