Sudan vice president returns home after briefing Libyan leader on the peace agreement
KHARTOUM, June 13, 2004 (KUNA) — Sudanese Vice President Ali Osman Taha returned home on Sunday after briefing Libyan Leader Moamar Al-Gaddafi in the Libyan city of Sert on the peace process’ latest developments.
Member of the government delegation to the peace negotiations Amin Hassan Omar who accompanied Taha, said in a statement here, Taha’s meeting with Al-Gaddafi dealt with the decisive phase of the peace progress.
Omar added that Taha briefed Al-Gaddafi on the outcome of his visit to Egypt and his meeting with the Arab League chief, that included brief on Arab countries’ participation in the peace process.
He said, Al-Gaddafi talked about the importance of establishing the new stage with consideration to the various developments in Sudan within framework of the unity assertions, adding that the two sides agreed to continue consultations.
Taha and Garang have signed on June 5th in Kenya a peace agreement including six protocols that have been agreed during the negotiation rounds .
