Sudanese opposition leader detained
April 11, 2012 (KHARTOUM) – Mubarak al-Fadil, leader of the dissolved Umma Reform and Renewal Party (URRP), has been detained in front of his house on Wednesday morning.
Al-Fadil confirmed his arrest in a brief phone call made by Sudan Tribune. He said that his phone is still with him despite his detention.
The opposition figure, who is a vocal critic of the government gave no reason for his arrest.
The independent al-Ahdath newspaper today quoted the ruling National Congress Party (NCP) organisational secretary Sideeg Hamid as saying that al-Fadil had failed in all his attempts to overthrow the regime.
