Yemen to send 600 peacekeepers to southern Sudan
SANAA, Yemen, June 15, 2004 (MENA) — Yemen agreed to send 600 soldiers to take part in the UN peacekeeping force to be deployed in southern Sudan in August.
The 600 soldiers, to work along the side with other Arab forces from Tunisia and Algeria, will remain in South Sudan for six months, then they will be replaced by other troops from Yemen.
Yemen is also participating in the UN peacekeeping forces working in Sierra Leone.
