Lakes State Governor relieves 8 county commissioners without replacement
May 31, 2012 (JUBA) – The governor of Lakes state, Chol Tong Mayay, relieved eight County Commissioners of their positions on Thursday night, without replacing them.
The decree stated “in exercise of power vested in me by the Transitional Constitution of South Sudan 2011 article 165 (2) and Transition of Lakes state 2011 article 99 (2)a. I Eng. Chol Tong Mayay , Governor of Lakes state do hereby relieve the following commissioners with effect from today the 31st May 31, 2012”.
Relived of their positions were the following commissioners: Matur Majok Magol, of Rumbek Central; Isaac Mayom Malek, of Cueibet; David Mayom Riak, of Awerial; Isaac Mayek Noah, of Rumbek North; Bullen Bol Aceibai, of Yirol East; David Marial Gumke, of Rumbek East; Ezekiel Thiang Mangar, of Wulu; and Makur Kulang Lei, of Yirol West.
Chol said he would issue a decree next week, appointing replacement commissioners.
Decree relieving county commissionersOn May 1 Chol issued decree No.12/2012 appointing 13 ministers into office, two of which have since been rejected by the state parliament. Also, former minister of Finance, Pur Chienggan Dakbai was appointed as minister for agriculture and forestry; and the former food security advisor Macuor Marial Wuol was appointed as minister for labour and public service.
The fate of the rejected ministers is yet to be decided.
