Sudanese govt endorses economic agreements with China

KHARTOUM, June 21, 2004 (SUNA) — The Council of Ministers, chaired by President of the Republic Omar al-Beshir, Sunday endorsed preferential loan agreement and annual grant agreement between Sudan and China for the year 2004, presented by the minister of international cooperation, Sulayman Takana.

The preferential loan agreement, amounting to 30m Yuan (3.6 million US dollars) will be used for completing establishment of the new International Conference Hall at the Friendship Hall and for training government’s employees at the Ministry of International Cooperation.

The Council of Ministers also approved a memorandum of understanding on agricultural cooperation between the government of Sudan and Lebanon, presented by the minister of agriculture, Dr Majdhub al-Khalifah.

Meanwhile, the cabinet also heard a report by the minister of education on the preparations for the new school year 2004-2005, affirming stability of the education process in the previous year.

The council approved a report on the performance of the State of Gedaref in the year 2003, and its plan of the year 2004, which was presented at the meeting by the Wali (governor) of the state, Dr Abd-al-Rahman al-Khidr.
