Sudanese VP holds talks with Saudi rulers
RIYADH, June 22 (AFP) — Sudanese Vice President Ali Osman Taha met with King Fahd and Crown Prince Abdullah bin Abdul Aziz after arriving in Saudi Arabia on Tuesday, the official SPA news agency reported.
The meetings in the Red Sea city of Jeddah focused on “developments on the Arab, Islamic and international scenes and ways of boosting cooperation between the two brotherly countries,” it said.
Khartoum is engaged in a peace process with the rebel Sudan People’s Liberation Movement/Army (SPLM/A) aimed at ending 21 years of civil war in southern Sudan.
Three ministers involved in the peace talks are accompanying Taha.
