US Congress delegation to visit Sudan next week
WASHINGTON, June 22, 2004 (SUNA) — A U.S Congress delegation is due to visit Sudan early next week to get acquainted with the conditions in Darfur and meet with a number of senior government officials in the country, said Sudan Charge d’Affaires to Washington, Ambassador Khidir Haroon.
In a statement to SUNA, ambassador Haroon said that the Congress delegation’s visit to the country would last for a number of days, during which they will visit Darfur states to get acquainted with the conditions and the humanitarian needs there.
The delegation is due to meet with a number of government officials, said ambassador Haroon. He added that the recent declaration of the President of the Republic on Darfur has received a wide response in the United States of America.
