President al-Bashir receives verbal message from president Chirac
KHARTOUM, June 22, 2004 (SUNA) — President of the Republic Gen. Omer Al-Bashir has received a verbal message from French President Jaques Chirac. This came when the President received at the Republican Palace Tuesday French Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Renaud Muselier.
President Al-Bashir expressed Sudan Government’s appreciation to France’s stances for restoration of security and stability in Darfur.
The French minister, on his part, affirmed his country’s readiness to support the efforts aiming at restoring security and stability in Darfur as well as its support to all the national and regional efforts aiming at restoration of stability in Darfur.
He said the meeting tackled developments of the peace process in Sudan and the situations in Darfur and the visions of the French government concerning the humanitarian and security aspects and return of the displaced to their villages.
He affirmed the importance of commitment by all parties to Ndjamena Agreement for restoration of security and peace to enable the displaced persons to return to their home areas and practice their normal life.
Meanwhile, State Minister for Foreign Affairs Nageeb Al-Khair Abdul-Wahab said the French minister presented some ideas aiming at boosting the efforts for restoration of stability in Darfur, pointing out that France’s vision considering Ndjamena agreement as the basis for restoration of stability in Darfur was identical with the vision of the government of Sudan.
Abdul-Wahab added that the French minister indicated that President Jaques Chirac would visit Sudan shortly in the context of boosting the bilateral relations and consultations on regional security and stability.
