Warrap Governor fires political advisor
August 24, 2012 (JUBA) – The governor of Warrap state, Nyandeng Malek, on Friday issued a gubernatorial order sacking her political advisor, Makuc Makuc months after forming her cabinet.
Little is known about the unexpected dismissal of the long-time ally of the governor.
Attempts made by Sudan Tribune to reach Ngongdit failed. Ngongdit has been replaced by Mayuot Akec. James Achi Akuien retained his advisory position in security affairs. Andrew Kuac also returned to the advisory position on peace and reconciliation.
Kuac resigned from the same advisory position in 2011 in protest of the attack launched on his area in Tonj East by armed groups allegedly from neighbouring Unity State. He accused the central government of responding inadequately to the security situation.
Over 80 people, mostly innocent civilians, were killed and several others wounded while thousands of herds of cattle were stolen.
The gubernatorial order also appointed Adior Kuol as economic and development advisor as Deng Mariak takes over the gender and human rights advisory role.
