US Congress delegation begins visit to Sudan Saturday

KHARTOUM, June 25, 2004 (SUNA) — A US Congress delegation is to arrive in the country Saturday on a five-day visit to get acquainted with the situations in Darfur and hold talks with a number of officials in the government and parliament.

SUNA learnt that the US Congress delegation would visit the three states of Darfur to get acquainted with the situations there and hold talks with a number of Sudanese officials, including the Minister of Foreign Affairs.

The delegation would also hold talks with Sudanese parliamentarians on the support that could be extended by the US Congress for the comprehensive peace and restoration of stability in Darfur.
