The co-operative, formed in 2010 with 25 members including women, has boats for collecting fish for resale in Bor and Juba markets.

“We are giving you this generator, refrigerator and boat engine for the sustainability of your livelihood”, the acting Director for CHF Africa program, David Rhody said.

“I am here to monitor the program we are implementing here in conjunction with government and with other organizations and we are focusing mainly on sustainable livelihood, so our goals is attempt to help people to help themselves,” David Rhody.

Rhody described the donation as “a little kick” start for the co-operative. He said CHF International is helping the county generation income in a numbers of ways.

“We are helping fishing groups to get a good start because they need something to begin their work and this contributes to potential income generation for the beneficiaries and we are hoping that they will be independent in future with the small support we have provided to them,” he said.

The project is part of the government’s South Sudan Livelihood Development Program which is funded by the United Nations.

“We are providing assistance and support to implement the sustainable livelihood of the project,” Rhody said. CHF provided some small funding as well for some of the gaps.
