October 12, 2012 (BOR) – Jonglei Sudd Bottling limited, the only water producing factory in Bor has conducted a successful test on its water after spending ten months setting the business and will opened by the end of October.

Workers taking crates of water from the production line at the water factory in Bor, Jonglei State, South Sudan, October 12, 2012 (ST)The Chief Executive Officer of the factory, Joseph Majur Akoi, who started the project in January this year explained that the main objectives of the project was to reduce the cost of water for local consumers from the current price of 2 SSP a bottle to 1 SSP besides creating jobs for unemployed young people.
“We decided to [a] build water factory in Jonglei so that the cost of water will not go beyond one [South Sudanese] pound”, said Akoi. It will also create opportunities to the youth”.

The factory plans to produce 4,000 creates per day “but if we see that there is market, we can increase the production by putting [in] two shifts, morning shift and evening shift”, Akoi explained.
According to Majur, the factory has hired an experienced Chinese water engineer, Chang, who has pledged to work hard to make sure that the Sudd Bottling takes the first position in South Sudan.

According to the Chinese engineer, the factory will produce clean water for drinking and for other purposes.
“We are making this to be very clean one. We are making our best to make sure that this factory is the best in South Sudan”, said the Chang.
