Jonglei State council of ministers endorse greement

October ,17, 2012 (BOR)-– Jonglei state council of ministers endorsed the agreement signed between Sudan and South Sudan governments in Ethiopian capital of Addis Ababa last month.

The the state deputy Hussein Maar Nyuot briefed the press, after the closed door meeting between the governor, Kuol manyang Juuk, [who had just returned from Juba when the president of the Republic of South Sudan called them] and the state ministers in Bor on Wednesday 17.

“The discussion was about the co-operation agreement which was signed in Addis Ababa between the Republic of south Sudan and Sudan Government,” the minister of Information and Broadcasting [who is also the Deputy Governor], Maar said.

Maar said the council of ministers in its meeting on Wednesday endorsed the agreement in full and “we actually bless it”.

“He fully briefed us and we shared the documents, we are supporting the documents and we are supporting our president together with the negotiating teams”, Maar added.

“On behave of the government we want to congratulate our president Salva Kiir Mayardit, and the team for the patient they showed during the time of negotiation,” he said.

He said all the areas that the people of south Sudan still claim are still part of South Sudan, “we believe that with the effort of our team we will for sure get them back to the Republic of South Sudan,” Maar said.

Last week, hundreds of people from northern Bahr el Gazal demonstrated against demilitarisation of mile 14.

He said that the state governor will brief the state legislative assembly tomorrow on the issue which they do think that they will also endorse the agreement and bless it as the council of the ministers executes.

Maar said although there are some of the issues, which are not added in the agreement, “they also hope that the government will follow them and they will be put into consideration”.

That council of the ministers urged the people of Jonglei state to stand with the government for its full support “because they know that the president together with the negotiating team will continue with the outstanding issues, such as issue of Abyei, Borders the other areas that were not discussed,” he said.
