One dead after cargo plane crashes into farm in southern Sudan
KHARTOUM, June 27 (AFP) — A Russian-built cargo plane crashed into a farm in southern Sudan killing a female agricultural worker and injuring a crew member after the pilot aborted take-off when a wing caught fire, reports said Sunday.
The Antonov-12, loaded with hides and timber, was preparing for departure from the town of Wau in Bahr al-Ghazal state when the accident took place just before sunset Saturday, the state-owned Al-Anbaa daily said.
Four of the five Russian crew members emerged unscathed but the fifth sustained head injuries, the paper said.
