Sudan to increase oil production to 500.000 bpd
KHARTOUM, June 27, 2004 (SUNA) — The Minister of Energy and Mining, Dr. Awad Ahmed Al-Jaz, announced that the country’s oil production will increase to 500,000 barrels per day during the coming year.
In a press statement to SUNA following a cabinet meeting on Sunday, in which he presented a report about the performance of his Ministry in the year 2003, Dr. Al-Jaz said that the prices of the Sudanese oil is among the highest prices at the international market.
He also said that the first phase of expanding Khartoum Oil Refinery has been completed to increase the daily production t0 70,000 barrels, hich is to be further increased to 100,000 barrels.
Dr. Al-Jaz explained that work has been completed to establish a pipeline project between Balila oil field and Khartoum Oil Refinery, adding that a third pipeline will be constructed to pump crude from the Upper Nile and the White Nile States.
The Minister disclosed that negotiations are underway for construction of a pipeline to transport petroleum materials from Khartoum Oil Refinery to Al-Khair Port.
