Saudi company to fund establishment of new international Khartoum airport
KHARTOUM, June 28, 2004 (SUNA) — A memo of understanding to fund establishment of the new Khartoum International Airport was signed here Monday by the Ministry of Finance and the Saudi Rayat Aliya Group.
The Saudi party was signed by Chairman of the Group’s Board of Directors, Emir Faisal bin Abdalla bin Abdul-Aziz, while the Minister of Finance, Al-Zubair Ahmed Hassan, signed for the Sudanese side, in the presence of the Ministers of Industry, Aviation and Investment.
Addressing the signing ceremony, the Minister of Finance said that the new international airport’s project is given a special concern and priority toward boosting the industry, tourism, exports, economy and investment, agriculture in Sudan.
He said that the Council of Ministers has formed a high level committee to determine the most proper site of the new Khartoum International Airport, out of three suggested sites in Khartoum State.
The minister has hailed the eternal and distinguished ties between Sudan and Saudi Arabia in all domains.
Emir Faisal bin Abdalla bin Abdul-Aziz also spoke at the signing ceremony congratulating the Sudanese people on the adventing peace, stressing the strategy importance of the new Khartoum International Airport’s project.
