Police car accident kills three and injures more in Jonglei
February 27, 2013 (BOR) – A police vehicle carrying 28 people overturned in Bor on Tuesday, while returning from Tibeck Police headquarters, the Inspector General of South Sudan Police service said on Tuesday.
Akuei Bair, said one policeman was killed at the scene of the crash, while two women who were also on board died after they were admitted to the hospital.
The police vehicle was moving at high speed, Bair said, and after reaching a roundabout the driver lost control which “lead the vehicle to pass on wrong side of the road” before it overturned despite attempts made by the driver to control it.
An eye witnesses, Paul Galuak, said the vehicle approached the town at high speed from the police headquarters, which is situated a few kilometers outside Bor town to be received by the new South Sudan Inspector General of Police on Tuesday morning.
The car had 28 police men and women on board, before it over turned. As well as the three people killed, 25 others are in a serious condition in Bor civil hospital.
“All of us have injuries except the driver whose body has got no injury, you have seen everybody have paint in his body now,” one of the victims, who identified himself as James, told Sudan Tribune at Bor civil hospital on Wednesday.
