Sudan’s NCP spokesman freezes his activities to protest undermining of his role

March 9, 2013 (KHARTOUM) – The spokesman of the ruling National Congress Party (NCP) Badr al-Deen Ahmed Ibrahim started a voluntary silence period and refused to answer any inquires by reporters.

Ibrahim announced that he is suspending his role as NCP spokesman indefinitely to protest what he said was other officials stepping into his toes and making conflicting statements to the public on the party’s position regarding several issues.

He said that he lodged a complaint with the NCP Politburo and vowed not to resume his function as party spokesperson without a formal and written mandate from the head of the Politburo.

Ibrahim is also the head of the NCP’s media bureau.
