March 28, 2013 (JUBA) – South Sudan authorities have confirmed the missing fund saying the amount stolen was closely to $14,000 which were kept in the office of president as pity cash and for emergency expenditures, disappeared unexpectedly on Friday night on March 15.

But the case looks very big in the face of daily politics among politicians and ordinary citizens wondering why such money disappeared in the office of president. On Thursday officials in the office of president say serious investigations are under way on finding out about criminal involvement.

Around 176,196 South Sudanese pound equivalent to 14,000 $ disappeared in the office of presidential, according to officials while addressing group of journalists in the office of Media Minister spokesperson of South Sudan government.

Earlier it was reported around six millions South Sudanese pound stolen, but this was denied officially by Minister Emmanuel Lowila in the office of president. Lowila says the stolen money is less than the above but adding that investigation on way who could be behind theft deal.

“You would wonder why we didn’t come out immediately; we did not want to jeopardizes investigation that was already going on. we didn’t want to frame that so the case was with police and it was being investigated and so there was no reason atoll for us to go ahead, when police was ready managing the case but we are compile now to respond because we want to clarify the situation somebody has misinformed the people of South Sudan and the world at large which is unfortunate”, said Lowila.

However presidential Minister describe, the narrowly theft broke into accountant office as something plans by the by the offender, he is adding that the fund which were stolen are salaries of junior staffs that have no bank accounts mostly drivers and maintenance issues.

“When we were there with police on Saturday it was in the office of accountant, it was at the back of the office, what was found were two hammers with long screw drivers, there was a bucket of water and the big hole was made on the wall that is what we found”, added presidential Minister.

But Lowila who is the Minister in the office of president describe the stolen money as something is going to be handled by both presidential protection unit and the police criminal investigation department.

Lowila saying the president security is fine dismissing the claims by some people that president security is at risk if theft can take money in his office.

“The safety of the president was not in any way threaten atoll so this happen in a place which was further from where the president usually operate”.

Officially spokesperson for South Sudan government Barnaba Marial Benjamin says police and security are working toward revealing the culprit soon, saying that whoever found will face law and order.

“If citizen broken the law you must have adequate time to investigate that person properly so that also he or her human right are not violated, so we are also careful how you handle this case, so the investigation is going on the secret investigation department of police has taken it over with the protection unit of president that is being done, so I can assure you when the culprit is identify should be taken to court and punish for what he has done”, said Benjamin.

However authorities’ bows for additional security and safety measures to be taken place in order for avoiding repeated case in future in the presidential area and assuring public to bring the offender into book.
