Fly Dubai airline to begin direct flights to Juba soon
April 10, 2013 (JUBA) – Fly Dubai airline has announced to begin its first ever direct flight from Dubai to Juba on 21st April 2013.
The Fly Dubai airline, which is an airline in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), will also issue visas in Juba on behalf of their government to those who will be travelling to Dubai from South Sudan.
South Sudan and UAE have agreed to establish diplomatic relations and open embassies in each country in the near future.
However, with the launch of the direct flights between the two countries, Fly Dubai said their airline office in Juba is mandated by the UAE government to process visas and that the process will take only few hours for a traveller to get the visa.
This was announced on Tuesday by the head of the commercial operations for the airline, Sudhir Sreedharan, during a courtesy visit to the Vice President, Riek Machar Teny, where he informed the leadership about the event.
Sudhir further explained that the modern but low cost airliner will fly between Juba and Dubai four days a week and will have the capacity of 189 seats in the economic class.
The airline is one of the fastest growing airlines in the world, adding that it has this year launched flights to 16 additional destinations around the world with South Sudan.
Among the new 16 locations launched, Sudhir said Juba was at the top as the most appreciated new destinations according to the email responses they received from different clients around the world, he said.
To travel to Dubai from Juba and vice versa, passengers had to connect through one of the neighbouring countries, making the flight more expensive and long distance.
Fly Dubai said it will fly for only four and a half hours with the direct flight between the two countries.
