The LRA Attacks is now Known to Have Killed 122 Equatorian civilians

Equatoria Defence Forces (EDF)

Press Release

7th July 2004

Just as the EDF Sectary General released the press statement yesterday 6th July 2004, the EDF Overall commander, Cdr Martin Kenyi again telephoned to inform that they have now received details of civilian casualties who died in the different villages during the LRA rampage through the Equatorian villages while supported by GoS army( June 25th to June 27th 2004).

The civilian casualties are as follows by villages: Lyangari 47 killed, Lowai 25 killed, Longairo 1 killed, Moti (Khartoum area) 25 killed, Lolyanga 15 killed, and Logire 9 killed.

Total number of civilians who lost their lives in the

LRA rampage this time then stands at 122

Last time up to 13th June 2004, about 70 civilians were killed in the LRA looting spree that time. Hence more then 190 Equatorian villagers have lost their lives to LRA rebel activities in Eastern/Central Equatoria within a space of one month.

Sorry for the delay in the information flow; this is because some of these villages are only reachable by foot from the EDF and SPLA forces headquarters in Magwi especially during rainy season like now, and so foot soldiers taking information usually take days to walk the distances.
