Lakes state prison warden kills woman in Wulu county

June 8, 2013 (RUMBEK) – A South Sudanese prison officer is reported to have killed a 45-year-old woman in Lakes state on Friday evening at 10pm in Wulu county.

A senior police officer who requested anonymity said that the incident happened in the house of prison warden identified as Madoyi Kamoten. The motive of the killing of the woman, identified as Nyachok Mado, is unknown.

Wulu county police have arrested Madoyi Kamoten on suspicion of the murder after neighbours heard a gunshot come from the house.

In response Wulu county’s commissioner, Akol Muorwel, declared a curfew on Friday night without indicating when it will end.
