Chad demands the activation of the joint Sudanese Chadian military force

AL-GINAINA, West Kordufan State, July 10, 2004 (SUNA) — The Sudanese and Chadian Ministers of Defense Friday co-chaired a session of joint talks over security issues, along the borders strip that extends along West Darfur State and Wadi Chad, as well as the issue of the Sudanese refugees in Chad.

Addressing the opening setting at the premises of the legislative Council of West Darfur State, Minister of Defense, Maj. Gen. Bakri Hassan Salih, affirmed Sudan’s readiness to tackle the above issues with transparency, explaining that such bilateral meetings confirm the depth of the relations linking Sudan and Chad.

Meanwhile, the Chairman of the Chadian side called for activation of the joint Sudanese-Chadian military force, which was agreed on during the talks of Abache, saying that Chad is hosting Sudanese refugees and will spare no efforts in assisting the Sudanese people solve their issues peacefully.

The two sides further to set up a joint mini committee to prepare a paper on the issues to discussions to be filed to the summit of the Sudanese and Chadian Presidents, due to be held Saturday.

On the other hand, the Adviser of the President for African Affairs, Dr. Ali Hassan Tag Al-Din, met with the leaders of civil administration in Dar Masalit, briefing them on the government’s plan to develop Darfur region and affirming the keenness to achieve security and stability in the area.
