Suspended SPLM S.G ordered not to leave Juba

25 July 2013 (JUBA) – The president of the Republic of South Sudan and chairman of the SPLM, Salva Kiir Mayardit has issued a party order that bars the suspended party Secretary General, Pagan Amum Okieck from traveling out of Juba and addressing any media until investigation are over.

Kiir is the chairman of the ruling SPLM party suspended the Secretary General for allegedly inciting and criticizing the president’s decisions.

He is to be investigated by a five member committee headed by the speaker of the National Legislative Assembly, Rt. Hon. James Wani Igga.

Pagan had criticized the suspension of the two ministers of Finance and Cabinet Affairs and termed the decision as politically motivated.
