A leading Member of Parliament from the Nuba Mountains Afaf Tawer told reporters on Tuesday that only three Nuba participated in the attack on a military convoy escorting four tankers of fuel on the road of Dalang-Dibibad last Saturday 27 July.

She further said that Abdel Aziz El-Hilu, SPLM-N deputy chairman and general commander “bears the responsibility of expanding the conflict to South Kordofan to achieve the goals of Darfur groups which want to take power in Khartoum and to destabilize the country”.

Tawer who is a leading member in the ruling National Congress Party from South Kordofan further added that Nuba only want to share power and wealth and demand positive discrimination.

The Sudanese interior minister on Sunday told lawmakers said that the escorted fuel belonged to the United Nations Interim Security Force for Abyei (UNISFA).

The rebel Justice and Equality Movement (JEM) since Saturday claimed the responsibility of the attack. The group’s official spokesperson Gibreel Adam Bilal said they captured the four tankers and other vehicles loaded with weapons and ammunition.

However, SPLM-N spokesperson, Arnu Ngutulu Lodi, on the same day issued a separate press release saying that his group carried out the attack without mentioning the participation of other rebel group in the attack.

Since last April, JEM massed its fighters in South Kordofan and different sources said that the Darfuri group provided about the half of the force that attacked Abu Kershola on 27 April.

The coalition of the rebel groups (Sudan Revolutionary Front) formed since 2012 a joint military command headed by El-Hilu.

The insurgents say they intend to carry out a war of attrition against the regime and take the control of different provinces before to attack the capital Khartoum.
