Islamic extremist murders two members of his family in Omdurman
September 22, 2013 (KHARTOUM) – A 27-years old man in Sudan’s twin capital city of Omdurman was taken into custody after fatally stabbing his mother and brother and wounding his sister leaving her in critical condition.
According to witnesses, the defendant joined a hardline religious group and preached at a mosque. He was at odds with his 55-years old mother, a teacher, over his opposition to her plans to allocate a section of the house to build a kindergarten.
He also wanted his sister to stop her college education, the witnesses said.
The mother and her son got into an argument that day over the same issue prompting his father to go report him to the police.
Meanwhile and as she was leaving to the kindergarten, he stabbed her twice in the back and three times on her neck, chest and stomach.
Upon seeing the scene, his sister called on her other brother to help but while trying to confront the defendant he was stabbed eight times all over his body.
He then turned to his sister and stabbed her five times and remained in a state of rage until the police arrived. The mother and the brother were declared dead on spot while the 19-years old sister was taken to hospital to receive treatment.
