Central Equatoria governor sacks Juba town mayor
September 28, 2013 (JUBA) – The governor of Central Equatoria State, Clement Wani Konga, unexpectedly issued gubernatorial order on Saturday dismissing one of his closest allies, Juba town mayor, Mohammed Elhaj Baballah.
Konga named Christopher Sarafino Wani as the new mayor, according to an announcement of state-owned South Sudan television.
The governor made three other new appointments for the Juba town: Deputy for Administration and Finance – Hakim Deng, Deputy Mayor for Land and Development – Festo Abdalla Aziz James, City Council Town Clerk Yoach Kulang
He also made two appointments on a county level: Mayor of Yei Municipal Council Oba Cecilia Tito, Kajokeji County commissioner Henry Kala Sabuni
The governor also appointed a new cabinet: Cabinet Affairs Scopas Dima Jibi, Finance and Economic Planning Lodu Bureng, Commerce, Industry, Mining and Investment – Joseph Kulang John; Information, Broadcasting and Tourism Suba Samuel Manasseh; Physical Infrastructure and Rural Water Development Jimy Wongo, Agriculture and Forestry Jacob Lupai, Animal Resources and Fisheries Gada James Killa, Health, Sanitation and Environment Ija Baya, Education and Technology Hastin Yokwe, Gender and Social Development Mary Apayi Ayiga, Labour and Public Service Lily Kitale Andrew, Corporative and Rural Development Michael John, Youth, Sports and CultureDavid Lokonga Moses (incumbent) , Local Government Gerald Francis replaces (replacing Albert Pitia).
