South Sudan to join East African single customs territory
October 30, 2013 (JUBA) – South Sudan will join Uganda, Rwanda and Kenya in the agreement to establish Single Customs Territory (SCT) that was signed on Tueday in the Rwandan capital, Kigali.
The presidents of Uganda, Rwanda and Kenya signed an agreement to establish that in a summit attended by South Sudan leader Salva Kiir Mayardit. South Sudan did not sign the agreement and will be added later after confirming interest, according to presidential communique.
Uganda, Kenya and Rwanda will launch a single tourist visa next week at the World Travel Market and the announcement will be made in Juba, South Sudan during the infrastructure meeting.
South Sudan is vying to join the East African Community that includes Uganda, Kenya, Burundi, Rwanda and Tanzania.
